Solar power system is installed at Boundary Bay Airport
Terminal to convert light energy into AC power
The Delta Optimist, November 28, 2011
A solar power system was installed at the Boundary Bay Airport terminal earlier this month.
This innovative system brings the terminal a step closer to a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating.
The leading edge solar technology, which was developed by the Alpha Group, converts light energy captured by 60 solar photovoltaic panels into DC power. The DC power is stored in batteries and once the batteries are fully charged, it is converted to AC power that can be used to power a portion of the terminal's requirements.
