Boundary Bay Airport Initiatives Stimulate Investment
For immediate release – September 15, 2011
Mayor Lois E. Jackson and Alpha Aviation President Lynda Hogarth discussed emerging development opportunities and long-term plans for Boundary Bay Airport at a business luncheon organized by the Delta Chamber of Commerce on September 14th.
Since Alpha Aviation took over as operator of the Airport in 2004, the face of Boundary Bay Airport has changed greatly – with a new state of the art terminal building, major improvements to the heritage hangar, installation of a new fuel farm, increased hangar storage capacity and further upgrades scheduled for the near future.
“All of these initiatives and the vision myself and Delta Council have foreseen for Boundary Bay Airport are vital to providing a stable foundation for investment and success” said Mayor Lois E. Jackson. “Businesses will find that Boundary Bay Airport is a great place for development.”
Delta Council recently endorsed an extension of Alpha Aviation’s lease for Boundary Bay Airport to 2099 along with a Master Servicing Plan to provide infrastructure and stimulate investment at the industrial lands located at the Airport.
“Since the lease extension, we have received a number of calls from businesses interested in development opportunities here at the Airport,” said Lynda Hogarth. “There is tremendous potential here and we are excited about the future.”
A key project currently underway to improve access to the Airport is the 80 Street Overpass. Once completed next year, the overpass will benefit Delta by minimizing traffic delays and providing safe, uninterrupted vehicle access to Boundary Airport – a key service enhancement to the Airport and the surrounding industrial areas.
“We like to think of Delta as not only a place to live, work, and play, but a place to live, work, play and invest!” said Delta Chamber Chair Ian Tait.
With its central location and close proximity to BC Ferries, the US Border, DeltaPort, YVR and the South Fraser Perimeter Road, the Airport offers a prime location for development.
