The Airport Operations Specialist is responsible for a variety of operational  duties in support of running the day to day of the airport Your varied day includes: 

  • Fuel concession operation and maintenance. This includes the fueling of avgas, jet fuel and sale of aircraft oil. The preventative maintenance of all fleet trucks as well as fuel plant equipment. The quality control of fuel products to industry standards.
  • FBO ramp services. This includes general aircraft services, marshaling, GPU services, baggage handling, and concierge services with a focus on customer service and growing the business.
  • Inspections and general maintenance of the airport’s airfield, groundside and terminal infastructure.
  • Wildlife management and logging.
  • General maintenance and repair of buildings owned by Alpha Aviation and leased to various clients.
  • FBO duties such as answering phone calls, dispatching fuel trucks, greeting all aircrafts that come to the ramp, invoicing customers.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Airport Operations Supervisor.

The Operation Specialist ideally have the following:

  • Prior knowledge in airports is an asset but not essential.
  • Good communication skills and sufficient computer skills in an MS Office.
  • Critical thinking with the ability to solve problems.
  • A team player, capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Excellent people skills, team player and must have a positive attitude.
  • Class 5 BC Drivers license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Boundary Bay Airport is operational 365 days a year and as such candidates need availability 7 days a week to work up to 40 hours.

Key Requirements / Education

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience, and a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess good communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Boundary Bay Airport is open 365 days a year and this role requires availability weekends and holidays

The Argus Group of companies has an immediate opportunity for a Payroll Coordinator at its corporate office located at the Boundary Bay Airport in Delta, B.C.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this is a full-time in-office role that will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of full-cycle payroll and coordination of benefits for approximately 60 employees for the organization’s three operating business units including: Alpha Aviation Inc (czbb.com), Equinox Power Innovations Inc (equinoxpowerinc.com), and Gate 22 Winery (gate22winery.com).

This position ensures compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation, including the Canada Labour Code and BC Employment Standards Act, and supports the Accounting Team with payroll-related reporting, reconciliations, and employee inquiries.

This is a brand-new role for the Accounting team.  We are looking for a strong collaborator who who thrives in a small, dynamic and growth-oriented work environment. The work will be interesting and challenging, as the industries that you will support in this role are so diverse and different from each other, that no day will be the same!

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare, verify, and process semi-monthly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees for three operating business units.
  • Enroll and maintain accurate employee payroll including new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and leave changes.
  • Calculate and process overtime, vacation pay, statutory holidays, leaves, and final pay upon termination; issue Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.
  • Coordinate group benefits, including enrolling new employees, processing changes, and reconciling monthly provider invoices.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for each payroll processed and assist Accounting team with related data entry and reconciliation tasks.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with Canada Labour Code, BC ESA, CRA Source Deductions, and WorkSafe BC and comply with remittance deadlines by preparing and remitting statutory deductions to CRA.
  • Monitor and follow up promptly with any CRA correspondence related to payroll and source deductions.
  • Prepare year-end filings including T4s and T4 Summary.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, deductions and pay statements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure payroll procedures align with internal controls.
  • Assist Accounting team with data entry as needed.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Enrolment in or designation in Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) program preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Canada Labour Code, BC Employment Standard Act, and CRA payroll requirements.
  • Experience using ADP, Sage 50 Payroll, and Quick Books online payroll is an asset.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting all source deduction remittance and reporting deadlines.
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • High computer literacy, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in a small company environment is an asset.
